We are Só Dança, an authentically Brazilian brand that takes great pride in serving dancers and people passionate about the art of dance in more than 70 countries! With four factories in Brazil and the Dominican Republic, a team of more than 1,500 workers, technicians and artisans, our own distributors in the United States, Europe and Canada, and a network of partners around the world, we are committed to developing, producing, maintaining strict quality standards and selling the most authentic and innovative dance articles everywhere in the world.
Our History
The story of Só Dança began to take shape in 1978, when Mr. Ival Teixeira de Araujo started working in the dance market. A few years later, this story began to come true with the opening of 2 stores in São Paulo selling dance products.
Recognizing the opportunity to evolve and meet dancers' needs and expectations for new and comfortable products, the company's CEO, Mr. Ival, started producing apparel in a small factory still in São Paulo, in the traditional Ipiranga neighborhood, effectively creating the Só Dança brand in 1987 and inviting Mr. Vanderlei Teixeira de Araujo, Maria Tereza Januario Teixeira de Araujo (in memoriam), Ivanete Teixeira de Araujo Ballardin and Celso Ballardin, the Teixeira de Araujo family, to take part in this story as the company's other directors.
Since then, Só Dança’s path of expansion has kept evolving
- 1989 The factory was moved to Osvaldo Cruz, the family’s hometown, and also began producing ballet shoes and dance footwear.
- 1982 Began operating in the international market.
- 1997 Opened its distributor in the United States.
- 1999 Opened its distributor for Europe.
- 2002 Opened its distributor in Canada.
- 2008 Took another strategic step to serve the global market and founded its first factory in the Dominican Republic.
- 2020 Opened the second factory in the Dominican Republic to produce pointe shoes with state-of-the-art injection technology, with emphasis on the Alina pointe shoes, which break conventional molds and offer high performance for dancers seeking precision in their performances.
